Bali massage

Nattakan reaches beyond Thailand: we offer Balinese massage. Why it’s worth it.

We are expanding our horizons and can take you not only to Thailand, but also to the paradise island of Bali. Nattakan Thai Massage has supplemented its offerings with massages from this beautiful but remote corner of the world. Two therapists from Indonesia, Anik and Putri, have recently joined our team. We cordially invite you to make an appointment to see them. Why is it worth trying? We explain!

Balinese massage, like Thai massage, has been practiced for hundreds of years. However, while Thai draws from Buddhist tradition, Balinese draws from Ayurveda – ancient Indian medicine whose roots go back as far as the 12th century BC. It was also shaped by Hinduism, Bali’s predominant religion, which holds that body and mind are one, so proper energy flow is crucial for both physical and mental health. The Balinese follow a specific philosophy of life called Tri Hita Karana, or “three causes of well-being.” They stand for harmony with god, among people and with nature and the environment. This idea guided ancient therapists, who not only performed massage, but were also healers and spiritual advisors who helped the body regain its energetic balance.

As Western interest in traditional and holistic medicine grew and Bali attracted more and more tourists, massage there began to gain admirers around the world. No wonder, after all, its health benefits can be discussed for hours, but we will try to summarize them.

Oils, stones, bamboo sticks… and more

The Balinese variety of massage, like the Thai, focuses on stimulating circulation through intense kneading of the muscles, but is far more relaxing. Much more often essential oils are used – rose, jasmine, or bergamot – so it is mostly performed on bare skin. Aromatic essences help relax, relieve pain and cleanse the body.

A characteristic technique is the use of hot stones, which further relaxes tense muscles. Volcanic rocks, such as basalt, are designed to warm the body during the massage, while white marble cools it. The therapist also strokes and stretches muscles and applies pressure to acupressure points. He or she may also use bamboo sticks, which is salutary for people who struggle with muscle ailments or are actively involved in sports.

What else does Balinese massage offer?

In addition to providing muscle relief, it also strengthens the immune system, helps relieve headaches, especially migraine headaches. It has also been observed to help treat respiratory conditions, so it is recommended for people struggling with allergies, or asthma. It doesn’t even need to be mentioned that it is an ideal way to deal with stress, as therapists try to evenly distribute energy in the body.

However, there are buts.

However, we remind you to use common sense and not to make an appointment if you have fresh injuries or cuts, skin infections, or suffer from chronic diseases, like heart disease. It is also not recommended for menstruating women.

We look forward to seeing you ☺

Theory is one thing, but see for yourself the salutary effects of a massage straight from Bali. Anik and Putri are already waiting to meet you and help you regain your balance both physically and mentally.
